COM. LING.- Aunque el único testimonio escrito es muy reciente (catastro de 1982), también ha sido recogido oralmente. Podría tratarse de un compuesto cuyo elemento final parece ser ola 'cabaña' 'sel'. El inicial, sin embargo, es muy oscuro, tal vez pudiera hacer referencia a algún antropónimo, a deducir, al menos, por lo observado en topónimos similares (cf. MANTXOLATZ en este capítulo). Quizás podría pensarse en *Satola de sagu 'ratón' más ola, cf. Satitsu (< sagu + itsu) pudiendo deberse la inicial palatal a xagu, tal vez sobrenombre. Xatola también puede haber salido de Satola por palatalización inicial no expresiva, conocida en toponimia.
